   /// 8:15 a.m. SAN DIEGO - A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Gilbert
Harrison, a former Navy pilot from Scripps Ranch accused of molesting four
boys over an eight-year period, when they came to visit him on vacations.
Harrison pleaded guilty to 79 counts, but was allowed to withdraw those pleas.

Westerfield, who is accused of kidnapping and killing 7-year-old Danielle van
Dam. Defense attorneys want a judge to allow them to look into the personnel

   8:30 a.m. SAN DIEGO - The International Association of Culinary
Professionals' annual conference will continue through Saturday. At 6:30 p.m.,
``Star Chefs: Cooking in Concert'' will feature Emeril Lagasse, Jacques Pepin,
Martin Yan and others demonstrating techniques and presentation at Copley
Symphony Hall, Seventh Avenue and B Street. A reception will follow the

who is accused of torturing, raping and killing a female roommate before

trial of Christopher Merrick, an alleged drunken motorist charged with murder

trial of Hugo Alcazar, who is accused of strangling his half-brother's 14-

   9 a.m. SAN DIEGO - A federal court hearing is scheduled for Brett Jensen,
Steve Esteves, Peter Marshall and Travis Delgadillo, who are accused of
getting past security officers at Camp Pendleton, then earing or destroying
more than 400 pounds of food in the mess hall. The four men are expected to
enter pleas to misdemeanor charges of trespassing and malicious mischief. Two
of the accused allegedly kept their ID cards after their Marine Corps career.

   9 a.m. SAN DIEGO - The USS John Young will return to San Diego from a
deployment that included participation in Operation Enduring Freedom. Media

   9 a.m. CAMP PENDLETON - Military officials will present the base's 14 Area
Mess Hall administrators with a first runner-up award as part of a worldwide

   ++10:30 a.m. SAN DIEGO - Councilman Ralph Inzunza and the Tia Juana Valley
County Water District will announce the construction of the North Valley Flood

   11 a.m. SAN DIEGO - Councilman Brian Maienschein and the Metropolitan
Wastewater Department will unveil a high-tech device designed to help reduce
the risk of sewer spills. The new ``mobile data unit'' will include Global
Positioning System technology to better track sewer manhole covers. Tecolote

   11:30 a.m. SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Aerospace Museum will commemorate the
60th anniversary of the Doolittle Raid. A ground ceremony will be held at the
museum at 11:30 a.m., with a flyover by vintage World War II era aircraft at
noon. The aircraft will also fly over San Diego Bay and Marine Corps Air
Station Miramar, then land at Brown Field at 12:30 p.m., and leave at 3 p.m.

   11:30 a.m. SAN DIEGO - The County of San Diego will hold its first Public
Health Champion Awards ceremony to recognize ``those who protect and promote

   Noon EL CAJON - El Cajon Valley High School will hold a disaster response
drill, including a full evacuation of classes and a simulation of ``injured

``American Indian Celebration: An Educational Festival & Marketplace.'' The

Pospisil, who pleaded no contest to conspiracy, mayhem, attempted murder,
assault, robbery and attempted robbery in the beating of an Orange County man

Saunders, who is accused of killing a fellow homeless man during an argument

   /// 2 p.m. SAN DIEGO - A Superior Court arraignment is scheduled for Lisa
Golden, a high school physical education teacher charged in an alleged plot to
kill the father of her 2-year-old daughter. Golden was arrested outside a

   /// 2:30 p.m. SAN DIEGO - A status conference is scheduled for Manjit
Basuta, a former day care provider who faces a retrial in the death of a 13-
month-old boy. The Carmel Valley resident is accused of shaking the toddler to
death when he refused to come to her to get his diaper changed. Basuta's
assault on a child conviction was reversed by an appeals court. Dept. 37, San
